A glimpse of who we are
Our continuous growth comes from our deep roots of purpose

Our Origin
The Justice, Peace and Integrity of Creation (JPIC) Commission has its roots in the Pastoral Constitution, Gaudium et Spes: “The council...regards it as most opportune that an organism of the universal Church be set up in order that both the justice and love of Christ toward the poor might be developed everywhere.” (1965, n. 90). The Synod of Bishops on Justice in the World also states that “Action on behalf of justice and participation in the transformation of the world fully appear to us...as a constitutive dimension of the preaching of the Gospel. (1971, n. 6)

Our Mission
Transforming the world in the spirit of the Gospel through conscious prayer and sacred action, leading lives of justice, peace, and care for the integrity of creation.

Our Vision
The JPIC Commission promotes and supports the integration of JUSTICE, PEACE & INTEGRITY OF CREATION (JPIC) in the life and mission of the member congregations of the Union of Superior Generals (USG) and the International Union of Superior Generals (UISG). It is responsible for animating men and women religious in JPIC, according to the evangelical counsels, through experience, social analysis, spiritual reflection and action.
JPIC Commission Secretariat
The JPIC Secretariat is responsible for coordinating, animating and facilitating the mission of the Commission through networking with grassroots organizations and local/international advocates; providing informed suggestions and reflections; and accompanying
JPIC Promoters in their ministry.

JPIC Promoters
A JPIC Promoter is responsible for helping each person and community to identify his/her own particular way of living and promoting JPIC values. The animation of JPIC consists of four elements: experience, social analysis, theological reflection/scripture/charism and action.
