A glimpse of who we are

Our continuous growth comes from our deep roots of purpose

In 1982, the commission was jointly formalized by the Union of Superior Generals (USG) and the International Union of Superior Generals (UISG).
Our Origin

The Justice, Peace and Integrity of Creation (JPIC) Commission has its roots in the Pastoral Constitution, Gaudium et Spes: “The council...regards it as most opportune that an organism of the universal Church be set up in order that both the justice and love of Christ toward the poor might be developed everywhere.” (1965, n. 90). The Synod of Bishops on Justice in the World also states that “Action on behalf of justice and participation in the transformation of the world fully appear to us...as a constitutive dimension of the preaching of the Gospel. (1971, n. 6)

In 1982, the commission was jointly formalized by the Union of Superior Generals (USG) and the International Union of Superior Generals (UISG).
The Commission serves the USG and the UISG and each individual member-congregation, according to its own charism, to achieve a greater awareness, clearer analysis and more effective action in JPIC matters, particularly as it affects the poor and disadvantaged in society
Our Mission

Transforming the world in the spirit of the Gospel through conscious prayer and sacred action, leading lives of justice, peace, and care for the integrity of creation.

Along with the Dicastery of Integral Human Development, we also seek to interconnect our various JPIC services in response to the needs of our world.
Our Vision

The JPIC Commission promotes and supports the integration of JUSTICE, PEACE & INTEGRITY OF CREATION (JPIC) in the life and mission of the member congregations of the Union of Superior Generals (USG) and the International Union of Superior Generals (UISG). It is responsible for animating men and women religious in JPIC, according to the evangelical counsels, through experience, social analysis, spiritual reflection and action.
